Doggie Diner started with our family’s beloved German Shepherd, Luna. As Luna grew older, she became a finicky eater. Even when we added tempting morsels of leftover chicken or steak to her usual mix, Luna would barely nibble at her meals. In an attempt to convince our faithful friend to eat, we began to prepare home-cooked meals. She always gobbled up these new meals with gusto and even seemed to have a bit more energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.

With Luna happier and healthier, we longed for the day when we could bypass the lengthy preparation process and purchase similar homemade meals. These dog food daydreams turned to action when word broke of the 2007 pet food contamination. We sympathized greatly with pet owners who were feeling scared and confused about how to provide appealing, nutritious meals without spending hours in the kitchen! Knowing that convenient, healthy, homemade options were few and far between, we sprung into motion! Researching aggressively to build on the knowledge we had learned in preparing Luna’s meals, it became more evident that, even beyond the pet food recall, balanced homemade meals are overwhelmingly healthier for dogs than their factory-processed competition.

In an attempt to help busy pet owners keep their dogs safe, healthy, and, not to mention, gastronomically satisfied, we have created Doggie Diner. Though we lost Luna in January of 2007, there is not a single day during which her big brown eyes and gentle demeanor do not cross our minds. Doggie Diner exists because we understand how much you love your dogs, how much you would do for their health and happiness, and how every late-night walk in the pouring rain is, without question, worth it when these ever-faithful companions rejoice in our return after a long day at work, coat our faces in their slobbery kisses, and curl up at our feet as we fall asleep. Doggie Diner is for our beloved Luna and all of the Lunas that brighten the lives of our customers.
